PML Construction
- Industry: Building and Construction, Trades and Local Services
- Business Location: Cambridgeshire
The Brief
PML Construction is a building and construction company based in Alconbury, Huntingdon, serving residential and commercial customers across Huntingdon and the wider Cambridgeshire area. Perry and the team cover home extensions, renovations, new builds, bespoke kitchens, carpentry, driveways and patios, managing every project personally from initial consultation through to final handover. One point of contact throughout, with complete visibility of what is happening and when.
The brief was a ground-up WordPress build to replace the existing placeholder site, paired with a comprehensive SEO foundations package to give PML Construction the strongest possible start in local search. The site needed to represent the quality of the work clearly, perform well on mobile and desktop, and be simple enough for Perry to manage and update himself after handover, with the right infrastructure in place to grow without needing a rebuild.
Before writing a line of code, I completed a full local competitor audit. The finding was striking. All three primary competitors ranked for zero to one keywords each, held no Maps Pack position, and had backlink profiles consisting almost entirely of spam. The brief therefore went beyond building a good website. The opportunity was to build the best locally-optimised builder website in Huntingdon and hand Perry a platform positioned to dominate local search from the moment it launched.
The Build
I built a fully custom WordPress site with a clean service grid, project gallery, testimonials, Google Maps embed, click-to-call and WhatsApp contact links, and a full enquiry form. Alongside the five core pages, individual service pages were built for Home Extensions, Driveways, Patios and Garden Makeovers, Carpentry, Bespoke Kitchens, New Builds, and Home Renovations and Alterations. Each has dedicated copy targeting specific local search terms, structured content, and a full FAQ section, giving the site an immediate indexable advantage over every local competitor.
Service content is managed separately from the page layouts, meaning Perry can update descriptions, images and copy through a straightforward admin screen without any risk of disrupting the design. The site was optimised for speed throughout, with caching, minification, lazy loading and asynchronous font loading all configured before handover.
On the SEO side, every page has a unique title tag, meta description and focus keyword drawn from verified search volume data. LocalBusiness schema is in place site-wide, helping both traditional search engines and AI answer engines understand exactly who PML Construction are, where they operate, and what they do. FAQ schema is implemented across all service pages, structuring the content in a format that AI platforms and voice search can surface directly in answers. The XML sitemap is clean and correct. All images have descriptive alt text written and applied. A complete SEO Foundations Report was produced alongside the build, covering keyword research with confirmed monthly volumes, full competitor analysis, a page-by-page SEO plan, Google Business Profile optimisation guide, a four-tier local backlink strategy, and a scaling roadmap through to Year 2.
The Result
PML Construction launched in June 2026 as the strongest locally-optimised builder website in Huntingdon. The site enters a market where no local builder currently ranks for more than one keyword, no competitor holds a Maps Pack position, and no competitor has individual service pages targeting specific search terms.
The structured data and clearly defined service and location content means PML Construction is well positioned not just for traditional search rankings but for AI answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, where structured, authoritative local content increasingly determines which businesses get cited in answers to queries like ‘best builder in Huntingdon’ or ‘who does home extensions near me’.
Perry already has a Google Business Profile in place. A fully optimised listing combined with even a small number of genuine reviews could put PML Construction in the Maps Pack for ‘builder near me’, which carries 1,300 monthly searches, within weeks of launch. The new build keyword at 210 monthly searches with a low difficulty score is completely un-served by local builders on page one, with results dominated by property sales sites rather than contractors. It represents the single biggest organic opportunity in the months ahead.
The project was delivered as a build-and-handover with a comprehensive handover document, step-by-step editing guides so Perry can manage the site himself, and 30 days of post-launch technical support included. The site is built to grow. New service pages, project case studies and location content can all be added through the existing infrastructure without any redesign or rebuild.
