The Brief
Oceanic-wave is a sub-part of the Kernow Weather Team, a well known and respected team on social media providing weather and travel news in Cornwall. The long-term aim is a large website covering ocean-related information for a wide range of users, including sports, environmental details, and the fishing industry. This was always going to be a mammoth project, so the initial focus was to launch with a strong foundation around surfing in Cornwall.
As part of the launch campaign, a promotional poster was also requested to be displayed and distributed by Only Fins Newquay, a local surf information hub and surfing photographer.
The Result
Website: Using WordPress with Elementor Pro, Dave (KWT) and I built out the first stage of the platform. The site incorporates iframes, imagery, meteorological charts delivered via JSON, interactive maps, and megamenu navigation. The project has huge scope, so the first rollout focused on beaches around Newquay to get the site live, with new locations, activities, and information being added regularly.
Poster and merchandise image: Using Gen AI, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop, I created the first in a series of posters that matched Oceanic-wave and KWT’s vision. More designs are planned as new sections of the website become available.
