Goldsithney Charter Fair
- Industry: Community Events
- Business Location: Cornwall
The Brief
Platform: WordPress
Build Type: Custom website build with e-commerce, dynamic content, and bespoke functionality
Industry: Community Event / Local Fair / Small Business Promotion
The launch of the Goldsithney Charter Fair website was a project that meant a lot to me personally, as well as professionally, because I am also a committee member for the fair.
The aim was to create a modern, useful website that could support the event properly, not just act as an online leaflet. It needed to help promote the fair, showcase what is happening, support local businesses, and make key admin processes far easier for the committee behind the scenes.
This build was designed to give Goldsithney Charter Fair a stronger digital presence while also introducing practical tools that save time, improve organisation, and create more opportunities for local businesses to get involved.
The Brief
Goldsithney Charter Fair needed a website that could do several jobs at once.
It needed to:
-Promote the fair and its activities clearly
-Display acts and entertainment in an engaging way
-Support local businesses through paid advertising slots and vendor opportunities
-Reduce manual admin for the committee
-Collect the right information from advertisers and vendors after purchase
-Help generate promotional content for social media using submitted business details
Because I am part of the committee, I had a clear understanding of the event’s struggles, needs, the common admin headaches, and the kind of functionality that would genuinely make a difference.
The Solution
Using WordPress as the foundation, I created a website that goes beyond a standard event brochure site.
The website includes custom-coded functionality for the acts and entertainment timeline and display, allowing event information to be shown in a more organised, engaging and user-friendly way. This helps visitors quickly understand what is happening and when, while giving the fair a more professional presentation online.
I also built in an e-commerce element that allows small businesses to purchase advertising slots directly through the website. This gives local businesses a simple way to get involved while helping support the fair financially.
To make the system work smoothly behind the scenes, I incorporated additional custom code that automatically triggers the need for a Forminator submission after payment completion. This means that once an ad slot or vendor-related purchase is made, the buyer is prompted to complete the required form so the committee can gather all the details needed for their advert, business listing or promotional materials.
The form structure was designed to collect as much useful information as possible, making it easier to generate:
-Advert content
-Business listings
-Vendor information
-Social media posts based on submitted details
This reduces back-and-forth, improves accuracy, and helps streamline the process of getting businesses featured both on the website and across social media.
Key Features

-Custom workflow linking WooCommerce purchases to Forminator form completion
-Automated collection of advertiser and vendor information after payment
-Improved system for generating ad content and social media promotional posts
-Community-focused design built to support both the event and local businesses
-Committee-informed functionality based on real operational needs
The Result
The finished website gives Goldsithney Charter Fair a far more professional and functional online presence.
It does not just promote the event. It actively supports the running of it.
Visitors can explore the fair more easily, acts and entertainment can be displayed clearly, and local businesses now have a more straightforward route to advertising and participation. On the admin side, the custom-coded purchase-to-form workflow helps reduce manual chasing and gives the committee the information they need in a far more efficient format.
As both the web designer and a committee member, this project was a great opportunity for me to combine technical problem-solving with genuine community involvement and create something that supports the fair in a practical, long-term way.
