Charlotte Head Spa and Retreat

May 2026

The Brief

Platform: WordPress
Build Type: Custom website build with bespoke booking system, dynamic single post templates, and custom plugin development
Industry: Health & Wellness / Beauty / Small Business

Charlotte’s Head Spa & Retreat is a project that sits a little differently in my portfolio. Charlotte is my goddaughter, and watching her take this step on her own, building something entirely hers from the ground up, made getting this right feel especially important.
The brief was to create a website worthy of the brand she had worked hard to establish – warm, professional, and genuinely useful to potential clients – while also delivering a fully functional booking system that could handle real appointments from day one.
The site needed to be live for 1 June 2026. We had just under two weeks.

The Brief
Charlotte’s Head Spa & Retreat needed a website that could do several things at once.
It needed to:

-Represent a premium Japanese head spa brand clearly and beautifully
-Showcase three distinct treatments with full content, FAQs and aftercare information
-Allow clients to book directly online without any manual back-and-forth
-Work as a fully dynamic system – one template serving all three treatments automatically
-Reflect Charlotte’s personal story and professional qualifications with warmth and honesty
-Include a dedicated Military Discount page, honouring Charlotte’s own military family background and her years working as a Healthcare Assistant
-Be built to rank well locally from day one

Charlotte came to me with her brand identity already established – a warm mahogany and parchment palette with a script logo – and a clear sense of the experience she wanted to create. My job was to translate that into a website that felt as good as the treatments themselves.

The Solution
Using WordPress as the foundation with Elementor Pro v4 as the builder, I built a fully custom site around a bespoke atomic design system – a set of reusable CSS classes and Elementor global classes that keep every page visually consistent while making future updates fast and reliable.
The core of the build is the Treatment Single Template – a fully dynamic Elementor theme builder template that serves all three treatment pages from a single design. Each treatment pulls its own content automatically via dynamic tags and custom post meta, meaning Charlotte can update any treatment detail from a single admin screen and the change flows through to the live page instantly.
To make that possible, I developed a custom must-use plugin – the Service Content Extension – that extends the booking system’s custom post type with additional content fields. These include a full service overview, a four-step process breakdown, what to bring, up to five FAQs, aftercare advice, contraindications, and an AI summary field for search engine and language model visibility. The FAQs automatically generate structured FAQPage JSON-LD schema on each treatment page, supporting rich results in Google Search.
The booking system – built by a specialist developer – handles availability, slots, and appointment management. I extended it with custom pricing display, service-locked booking forms on each treatment page, and full brand styling to match the site’s design system.
The design system itself is built around ten CSS custom properties derived directly from Charlotte’s brand assets – extracted from her logo, brand graphics and the real colours of her garden studio exterior. The palette moves from warm mahogany through chestnut, bronze, wheat, sage and the distinctive slate blue of her studio doors.

The Result

Charlotte’s Head Spa & Retreat launched on 1 June 2026 – on time, fully functional, and ready to take real bookings from day one.
The site gives Charlotte a professional online presence that genuinely reflects the quality of what she offers. Clients can learn about each treatment in depth, understand exactly what to expect, and book without needing to message or call. The dynamic template system means that as Charlotte grows her offering, adding new treatments is straightforward – the infrastructure is already in place.
Personally, this project meant a great deal. Charlotte took a huge step in setting up on her own, building her studio from the ground up and investing in her qualifications while managing life as a mum of two. Helping her launch something she can be proud of – and that can genuinely support her business long term – is exactly the kind of work I find most rewarding.
I wish her every success. She has absolutely earned it.
