The Brief
The Battle of Britain Historical Society wanted their website modernised. It was originally created in 1997 and had only received a few updates since, leaving it basic, very text-heavy, and non-responsive. I was asked to design and develop a modern website that works across all device types, with trimmed-down copy and a stronger emphasis on imagery to help draw in a younger audience and support the society’s mission of ensuring the next generation doesn’t forget what our country owes “The Few”.
The Result
Using Figma for design and WordPress with Elementor for development, I brought the new website to life with a more modern look and feel, responsive layouts, a complementary colour palette, image carousels, and richer media content.
A members-only login area was created for the society’s hundreds of members, enabling their magazine to be accessed digitally going forward.
Donate buttons were added and linked directly to the society’s JustGiving page, making it easier for supporters to fund the society, which relies on donations to keep running.
PayPal integration is planned next, allowing members to buy or renew membership online rather than using cheque, postal order, or bank transfer, reducing admin load for the membership secretary.
The society also took advantage of my more affordable pay monthly service, ensuring the website remains maintained, backed up, and supported with regular updates, amendments, and new pages as needed.

We contacted Wayne Reed to help us build a new website for the Battle of Britain Historical Society, as none of us have the IT skills to do it ourselves. Wayne has been brilliant throughout – not simply doing what we asked but suggesting improvements and features that wouldn’t have otherwise occurred to us. He’s put up with dealing with several people from the society, always been friendly & helpful, and never appears to have a day off! He’s just as enthusiastic about our society and website as we are – this is clearly more than just a job for Wayne. He’s fully up to date with search engine optimisation and AI – he’s created some excellent images using AI. We are hugely impressed with everything Wayne has done, and look forward to his continuing help using his monthly subscription service. We really cannot recommend Reedyswebdesigns highly enough – excellent!
